My Christmas Presents!

I'm not going to dwell on how utterly rubbish a blogger I have been these past few months but I am promising myself I'm not letting my blog die so here is my traditional look through this years Christmas presents. As usual I was a very lucky girl!!

First up this was my favourite gift from the hubs. An Astrid and Miyu rose gold necklace with an A for Annie on. I haven't taken it off since. Its so delicate and beautiful.

It was definitely a good year for jewellery, as well as the above, one of my gorgeous girl friends bought me the Stella and Dot inspire bracelet which will become an everyday favourite I'm sure. I love the neutral leather metallic band it sits on. My mum got me a gorgeous star ring which is from the Z for Accessorize range which I also love.

My bestie in Australia got it so right as usual and gifted me this beautiful coral leather journal and these fabulous pencils from Anthropologie. This will be perfect for work and to carry around in my bag. Its quite robust so the pages wont get damaged and the pencils will brighten up our office nicely!

I have been after a Parlux hairdryer for years and the hubs surprised me with this one. I blow dry my hair everyday and so speed of drying is most important and this one is brill!

My sister got me this lovely lip balm (with matching hand cream) from one of my fave shops L'Occitane. Its called Shea delightful Rose and its new. Its really light but luxurious for winter lips.

Finally I love all things Kate Spade so was lucky enough to get this lovely coffee table book. I cant wait to flick through it when i get a spare moment!

I hope you all had a lovely Christmas!

Twelve Months of Annie

Well although Annie turned 1 in August I realised that I haven't shared her final 12 month pictures and the whole collage!  Well here it is!  I know everyone says it but its incredible how much much my baby girl has changed!  From that beautiful dark haired little munchkin to my funny, sweet and gorgeous one year old.

Its been an incredible year, finding my feet in motherhood, breastfeeding, sleepless nights, tears, lots and lots of laughter and immense joy. Our lives have totally changed, but I wouldn't have it any other way. Annie we love you.

Coveting for Autumn!

I love Autumn/Winter clothing. Its definitely my fave season for clothes. You get that back to school feeling that makes you want to update your whole wardrobe don't you think?  I feel like my style has become much more casual since having Annie and even though I don't mind I want to try and make more of an effort so I've picked out a couple of items that I am really liking. I'm calling it polished casual!!

achichiaffair
Easy to wear throw on dresses like these two from And Other Stories and Anthropologie above are wardrobe stables. I love the print of them both and they would look great either with flat boots or trainers. Leopard print is apparently huge for this season so I would love this Boden Clutch (seen all over the blogs!!) and these Converse which would be perfect for running around with Annie!

achichiaffair
Love the quilted trend and this tee  from Warehouse would be great with skinny or boyfriend jeans plus its warm for Autumn. I'm also liking these flattering blouses from Anthropologie - they come in different prints and colour ways but I rather like the green.   Last season I couldn't get on board with the rucksack trend but this season I'm all over it. It fits with my new paired down style so I'm going to be investing in this Accessorize one which ticks all the boxes for me.(Obviously I would love the Cara Delevingne Mini Oxblood bag but sadly I don't have a spare £795!)

Do share what you are coveting this season!

Annie's Christening Soiree!

About a month ago we had a little family party for Annie's christening and I have been meaning to share a couple of the pictures.  It was very low key but I wanted it to feel girly and a little bit rustic.  I found some invitations from Dulce Grace Printables on Etsy that were personalised to fit the theme and  I decorated the kitchen table with a hessian runner, some pink roses and The Rifle Paper Co botanical banner. I thought it looked really pretty. We also had a cake made which looked so beautiful with a chocolate and vanilla inside. Unfortunately it didn't taste great (keeping it real!) but it did look fabulous!

Annie wore the white dotty christening gown that my mum made for me and my sister's christening in the 1980's and she is the first girl of our generation to wear it so it was really special. She looked so gorgeous don't you think? Her daisy headband was from Accessorize and she wore my own christening bangle on one wrist and on the other, we bought her own from Kit Heath with a little silver heart.

Finally I gifted the godmothers (my sister's) this sweet pebble from Badgers Badgers at Not on the High Street as a little token of our appreciation.

I hope you like the pictures!

A Nautical Rehearsal Dinner!

Some of you may know that back in June I attended my very good friend Will's wedding in Menorca. He was marrying his sweetheart Toby and it was just the best celebration. In fact the whole wedding weekend was incredible, from the moment we touched down in beautiful Menorca to the fun nautical themed rehearsal dinner (that I am sharing today!) to the wedding ceremony so full of love and laughter. It was truly one of the most romantic ceremonies I have ever witnessed and I was so proud to be best girl.

Will and Tobes had planned the nautical themed rehearsal dinner for the evening before the big day and it was such a great chance to meet everyone in such relaxed surroundings. The blue linens really complimented the green fields around the hotel and the blue skies and the stationery suite from Minted was a perfect touch. My favourite detail were the place names designed in the image of Will and Tobes by the gorgeous Brooke Hagel who also flew in from the US for the celebration. She is one talented lady!

I have included a few pictures below (including one of Will and I where I am grinning wildly!) but do pop over to Will's blog Bright Bazaar to see more pictures and the full write up!

10 and 11 months!

Since I haven't blogged for so flipping long I forgot to post both Annie's ten and eleven month pictures. Fear not though as I still took them and here they are! Annie's personality is developing more and more. She is spirited and knows what she wants and is so funny! She makes me laugh everyday!!

At 10 and 11 months...

  • She now crawls everywhere and is so fast! She is also cruising around the furniture and can stand on her own for a few seconds.
  • She attended her first wedding of the gorgeous Will and Toby in Menorca and was such a good girl. (Although you did wake up during the end of Uncle Will's speech!!) Oops!
  • She has seven teeth!
  • She gained her Level 2 certificate in swimming and has progressed to Heigh ho (Level 2) in Monkey Music.
  • She is interested in everything and everyone!!
  • Her favourite foods are cauliflower cheese, strawberries, blueberries and pesto pasta.
  • She was christened. She didn't even cry when the vicar pouted the water on her head!

Back with Living room update!

Okay so I think that's the longest time I have ever been away from blogging so if there is anyone still reading (!) then apologies for that! I'm going to try and blog a little but more regularly from now on!!

Anyway the living room is almost finished (YAY!) and I have a little update for you with a couple of things we have bought recently.

These are the tiles that we are using for the fireplace and they are made in Spain from Alhambra home. I love them as they have a Spanish look but are still contemporary and they make such a statement in the room. The fireplace is the first thing you see when you walk in so we wanted it to have the wow factor.

achichiaffair
I wasn't sure whether we were going to have artwork or a mirror above the fireplace but due to the statement nature of the tiles we finally settled on a mirror. We went with this one from Nordic Home as it was simple but still had some interest with the beading. I was so pleased with how it looks.

Nordic Home
And here's how they look together..I really like it! You can also see a sneak peak of the new built in cupboards and flooring. We're just waiting for the shutters and i'll show the final reveal soon.

Dream house!

I'm not sure if I have shared this before but I am a big fan of Camille Styles - she is based in Austin, Texas and her blog is always full of aspirational recipes, parties and decor so you should definitely have a look if you haven't already. Anyway I stumbled across these pictures of her house and its just so stunning that I couldn't resist posting....

I'm taking alot of inspiration away from the way she uses natural textures to create a homely feel. I also like the use of pattern in that beautiful pouffe and the cushions in the bedroom. And what is there to say about that outdoor space?? I think this gets filed in my Pinterest dream house section!

Living Room Update!

Time for a living room update!

We had the green textured wallpaper removed and the walls re plastered whilst we were on holiday and so when we came back the walls were super smooth (pretty much - although the hubs being a perfectionist still re-sanded some parts!)  We also finally removed the plastic fake ceiling rose which has been bugging me for three years (good riddance!)  So now we're at the prepping stage. We have decided to do this ourselves to save a few pennies plus the hubs is a super good painter (its that perfectionist streak again!)

So if you go back to this mood board here we are still on track for the blue colour palate. I think we are going for the one on the right of the picture which is Dulux colour mix liberty blue no 6. Its quite a calming blue with a touch of grey.

achichiaffair
A new addition to the moodboard is that we are thinking about using some sort of tiling around the fireplace. (See picture below)  I think the tiles would add a bit of pattern to the room and create a focal point around the fireplace but we are thinking about a darker blue and white tile What do you think?

More soon!

Nine Months Old!

Annie is nine months old ! (Well closer to 10 months actually but I'm so behind in my posting at the moment!) That means she has been out longer than she was in. (She actually arriving at 39 weeks!) I continue to be amazed about how much her little personality shines everyday. She is constantly smiling at everything and everyone and is a cheeky little thing! We love you so much Annie Manny.

achichiaffair
This month Annie :

  • Is crawling! She started a few days before she turned nine months (and three days before we went on holiday!)
  • Speaking of holidays we went on her first trip abroad to Soller in Mallorca with Granny and Grandad. She absolutely loved it and she was so happy every day!
  • Had her first taste of chocolate at Easter and unsurprisingly (like her mummy) loved it!
  • Has three teeth - the two bottom ones and one at the top now and is suffering with teething hence the dribble and runny nose in this picture!
  • Loves to play peekaboo!
  • Can say dada, baba and lots of sounds and squeals.
  • Is obsessed with books especially if they have flaps she can open.
  • Gained her Level 1 certificate in swimming!

What a busy month!

PS: Sorry about the bad quality photo but the chair is in the lounge at the moment whilst we are redecorating!!

Lovely website - Getting personal.co.uk

I'm always on the hunt for lovely gifts and I pride myself on choosing good presents for my friends and family. The hubs always teases me about this as I take so long to choose but I don't like to get it wrong! Anyway the lovely people at Getting Personal emailed me to see if I wanted to review a few items from their website and I jumped at the chance! I adore anything personalised as I think it just adds that finishing touch.

First up I ordered this gorgeous natural coloured cushion which is perfect in my bedroom. (see pics below.) It was much bigger than I expected and great value at £19.99. This would be a great wedding or anniversary gift for a happy couple or perhaps a house warming gift for a couple who have just moved in together! It looks fab in my bedroom.

achichiaffair
This personalised Apple crate planter is just perfect for some extra storage in our living room and means that Annie's toys can be easily transported. I love the colour too which is kind of a green/blue. At £33.99 this has multiple uses and would be gorgeous as a little herb garden or a flower garden for little ones...

achichiaffair
Finally I opted for one of Annie's favourite things; a personalised book! This one called The little girl who lost her name is just a beautiful read and will be one of our treasured possessions. At £18.99 its slightly pricy but it is great quality and would make a wonderful christening or first birthday gift.

I hope I have inspired you with your gift giving! Do make sure you check out the lovely website Getting Personal. It has some fabulous fathers day gifts too,

Disclaimer: I was provided the products for free but if I didn't like them I wouldn't blog about them here and this is as ever an honest review.

Tales from the Week!

Oh its been a hectic few weeks so apologies for being MIA for so long! But we have been on holiday! We had a week in Mallorca at one of our favourite places in the world Port de Soller. It was Annie's first trip abroad so we roped in the inlaws for moral support and we had a lovely time.  Blue skies and sunshine everyday, trips to the beach, local restaurants and we even enjoyed a romantic meal on our own.  I would say that going on holiday with a nine month old isn't particularly relaxing and there was no lazing on the sunlounger (boo!) but we did spend some quality time as a family and made tons of happy memories.

This shows the beach at Puerto de Soller, the amazing view from our villa, and the rocks at Cala Deia where we had lunch and a swim.

Views of Soller including Orange trees and the views at Fornalutx - one of Spain's prettiest villages.

A couple of pictures of Annie and I...

I'll be back soon with an update on the lounge!

Garden Going's On!

So we're having a little but of work done on the garden at the moment and it is looking really good. I'm dreaming of a colourful fun outdoor space that we can use to entertain and where Annie can play. I put together a little mood board of items that I like so do take a look below.

achichiaffair
TOP ROW - PHOTO CREDIT PINTEREST
2ND ROW:  PLANT POST; VASE SELECTION, UMBRELLA
3RD ROW: PICNIC RUG, LANTERN, FESTOON LIGHTING

Here is the garden as it stands - Do ignore the half cut grass as the lawn mower blew up...!! Anyway this is the back third of the garden that we have just had cleared. In this back area we are hoping to put a raised vegetable garden, paint the shed and make a play area for Annie. The rest will be laid to grass. We also need to plant a flower bed down the side so I'll be doing some planting soon!

Eight Months Old!

Annie is eight months - only one more month until she has been out as long as she was in my tummy! Insane! We are seeing more and more of her personality now and she is such a sociable little thing! (This post is slightly belated as she is actually closer to 9 months but hey ho!)

achichiaffair

This month Annie:

  • Now has two teeth which is making eating much easier. Favourite foods are currently pasta bolognese and broccoli pasta with cheese.  She has an amber anket to help with teething which I think is helping.
  • Is making lots of sounds ! Especially Daddy! (not sure if there is any association with the word yet though!)
  • Is shuffling and attempting to crawl.
  • Had a day out in London
  • Bought mummy a lovely card and Chloe wallet for Mothers day! (With daddy's help of course!)

Happy Monday!

Tales from the Week on Thursday!

We had a lovely Easter - I hope you did too! We hired a cottage down on the South Coast and spent a few days by the sea. It was really relaxing - even with a eight month old in tow!

Here are a few pictures...

  • The beautiful beach at West Wittering
  • Annie enjoying the sand (and mostly trying to eat it!)
  • Annie's Easter haul!
  • We rented a house in this beautiful road. The blossom looked so pretty.
  • My nephews and the hubs enjoyed the dodgems on the seafront!
  • I made these sweet bunnies for all of Annie's friends as an Easter gift.

Living Room Moodboard !

I've been trying to collect my thoughts on the re-decoration of the living room for a few weeks now and I'm not sure I'm quite there yet.  We've actually had the sofas delivered and already they look SO much better in the room (not being brown helps!)

Anyway the things we have figured out are:
  • Wooden flooring - probably oak. Unsure of the colour yet but leaning towards a lighter colour I think.
  • Shutters/blinds on the windows. We have these in the rest of the house and I love them and they will cover up the windows (that we are not yet ready to replace) nicely!
  • Some sort of rug - Probably a blue/grey colour.
  • Some kind of greenery in the form of house plants. I feel like this is lacking at the moment.

What we are unsure about:
  • What kind of coffee table if any?  With Annie progressing to walking I'm not sure if we should keep some space for her to toddle.
  • What colour on the walls? If we go with blue -what colour?
  • Lighting - would we want a free standing lamp or side lamps?

What do you think? Any suggestions?  We are open to them!

Seven Months Old!

Annie is seven months. Its such a lovely age. Her facial features seem to be changing as she looks more like a little girl. Her personality gets better every month and she definitely knows her own mind now.  We love her so much!

achichiaffair
This month Annie:

  • Is enjoying her food. She eats three meals a day now and I'm mostly following the Annabel Karmel meal planner. Her current favourite is Spinach, Leek and Pea purée and she loves to chew on toast and pineapple!
  • Has started swimming lessons with her daddy. We are doing the babyswimming.co.uk programme which teaches her to swim underwater. She seems to love it so far!
  • Babbles much more now and makes sounds and laughs lots ! She is such a happy little girl.
  • Loves to play peekaboo with mummy.
  • Is sleeping much better now with only one or two wake ups! (YAY!)
  • Met her new little cousin Reuben
  • Went to the farm for the first time! She was fascinated with the pigs!

Happy Tuesday!

PS: You may have noticed that I photoshopped in the paper this month instead of using an actual piece. This is why! Uh oh!

Peach Spring like baby shower!

Spring has sprung here and I adore this peach baby shower that I found on Grey likes Baby by Kayla Adams.

The beautiful blooms are my favourite here, I love how they have incorporated lots of different types to give it a soft eclectic look. The concertina decorations in the grey and peach colours look beautiful too and create a lovely backdrop to the room. Have you spied that stunning tablecloth with the flower pom poms on? So cute and I love the chevron one too. To see the full write up then click over to Grey likes Baby here.
