Magic Birthday Party!

I love an original party theme and this "magic" party for a 6th birthday that I found on Amy Atlas Blog is just super cute and really creative! The centre piece "rabbit in a hat" cake on top of a domino cake stand is just so lovely! I love the magic potion in the bottles with the stripy straws, the playing card biscuits and playing card dessert labels and the red and white colour palate. This would be so fun if the entertainment was a visiting magician! For the full write up - click over here.

Friday Festive Gifts! - Harrods Hamper!

I'm starting a little series on the run up to Christmas with some Friday gift guides which I'm looking forward to collating. However today I'm showcasing what must be one of the most perfect Christmas gifts - the Harrods Christmas Hamper which I was luckily enough to be sent to review. I do love to give a hamper as a gift - we actually gifted a personalised one that we had collated ourselves to both sets of parents at our wedding!

I was sent The Grosvenor Hamper which is a traditional festive hamper filled with Christmas essentials perfect for a family! It comes in a gorgeous brown woven box with a beautiful leather lid and contains loads of delicious treats like mince pies, Christmas tea and coffee, marshmallows, cocoa dusted almonds and tons more . Everything is amazing quality as you would expect from Harrods.

Christmas Decorating!

The season is upon us and this is my first Christmas post!!

Now I'm on maternity leave and I'm out and about shopping most days,  it seems like Christmas is definitely nearly here which led me to thinking about the Christmas decor. Although we're not hosting this year it is Annie's first Chrismtas so I do want to go all out and make it special!

Here's a quick look back at my decorating in previous years! I've done red and white, white and gold and natural textures and white and blue so far...

I think this year i'm going to be a traditionalist and go back to red and white with some natural textures thrown in there too and i may even add some gold. I'll also add a few more fun pieces such a reindeer or a snowman here and there! (Tasteful I promise!)

 Here are some inspiration pictures....

Wednesday Tales from the week - A Mini Break in Sussex

Sorry for the lack of posts this week so far! We took Annie away for her first mini break so I didn't get a chance to blog. We went to a little cottage in East  Sussex called The Artisan Bakehouse and it was completely lovely (and baby friendly as we found it on Baby Friendly Boltholes)

Here are a few pictures from the weekend. First up the sweet cottage built in the 16th century! It had a stylish country feel with a huge fire place, a wood burner, roll top bath and amazing gardens!

A Chi Chi Affair
The loveliest freshly baked scones and tea greeted us on our arrival! Its definitely a foodie kind of destination!

A Chi Chi Affair
I cant lie - we mainly did a whole lot of relaxing there for the weekend but we did venture into Hove and walk along the seafront to Brighton and we went out for a number of nice lunches too! We also ventured into the nearby Steyning which is a beautiful town! We especially enjoyed The café at The Sussex Produce Company, the breakfasts are definitely worth a visit!

I couldn't resist including this snap of the beach huts at Hove- It looks like a summers day! Can you believe its November in this picture!!

Three Months Old!

We survived the first three months unscathed! YAY!

A Chi Chi Affair

This month she:
  • Started to gurgle and make sounds.
  • Now smiles all the time!
  • Is able to hold a small object and started to interact with her toys.
  • Went to a firework display and wasn't phased by the bangs!
  • Stayed with Nanny and granddad whilst mummy and daddy went out for their first night out post baby!
  • Started to sleep much better and normally now only wakes up once in the night. Long may that continue!

Stella and Dot: A Chi Chi Affair picks...

I've known about Stella and Dot ever since I went to an Aspiring Kennedy and A Diary of Lovely blogger meet up a few years ago. However its recently been brought to the forefront of my mind again as my sister in law has become a Stella and Dot Stylist so I've been able to see the lovely jewellery close up! I recently purchased the Renegade Cluster Bracelet in Gold and I wear it all the time so I  thought I would do a little post with my top pics for the season!

First up the colour pop of these peacock chandelier earrings would bring a touch of glamour to your Christmas outfit. They can be worn as studs too so super versatile!

The gilded arrow bracelet is next on my wishlist - I know I would wear this all the time!

The limited edition fox ring is such a fun piece for Autumn and is right on trend with all the woodland creatures in the shops at the moment. Plus its a collaboration with Alice by Temperley too. (sidenote - have you seen the amazing dresses on the website!)

The Phoenix pendant (in the middle) can be worn long or short and is a statement piece that would certainly style up your little black dress, or any black top. I would wear mine with a plain top, skinny jeans and heels for a night out with the girls.

The Tia crossbody bag (so handy if you are pushing a pram at the mo like me!)  in vibrant red (and black too) would brighten up any outfit especially in this dull grey weather! I love that it can be used as a clutch bag too!

A is for Annie! I love personalised jewellery and this Soho charm can be added to any chain to make a necklace. So sweet.

Finally I couldn't resist adding this true statement piece. The Frou Frou Necklace inspired by the artist Frida Kahlo. Perfect for your new years eve celebration with a black dress! Beautiful!

If you are interested in being a Stella and Dot stylist/hosting a party or simply want to buy the jewelery then do click on over to my sister in laws site here.

A Chi Chi Affair

Nature inspired Autumn Wedding

Happy Monday all!

I love finding Autumn inspired events and this wedding inspiration shoot that I found on Ruffled blog is styled  to perfection. I love the hints of copper, and those amazing textiles. However its the table that really inspires me, those vivid green ferns and leaves against the orange of the mini pumpkins and the pops of Amethyst in the glassware really give this a luxury warm autumn glow! Love!

Tuesday Tales from the Week !

Have you noticed how cold its getting in the UK now?  It almost feels Christmassy already! I'm trying to make the most of the Autumn weather by getting out and about before its time to almost hibernate for those winter months!  Here's what I got up to this week!
  • Celebrating Halloween with this spooky skeleton on our door ready for the trick or treaters.
  • Annie's first firework night wrapped up cosy from the cold in her Boden mouse hat and coat. She didn't even cry at all the bangs!!

Beautiful Twinkle Twinkle little star party!

Annie loves the nursery rhyme twinkle twinkle little star and I often sing this to her as a lullaby to try and get her to sleep. So I couldn't resist posting this adorable first birthday party with a star theme! I love this! From the star balloon to the sweet magical wands as favours - even the sandwiches were cut into little stars!! You must hop on over to 100 Layer Cakelet to view the full party and see more pictures!

Friday Home: Thinking about Home renovations

We have almost finished the upstairs of our house (Our bedroom, Annie's room and the bathroom) so my attention has turned to the downstairs where we have a lounge, study and kitchen/diner. We're unsure as to whether this will be our forever house and therefore the kitchen/diner is the room that needs the least work so will be done last! (If at all if we sell!)  However this doesn't stop me dreaming about what this room could be...   At the moment the kitchen and dining room have been knocked through and its a good sized space (In fact its one of the big reasons we bought the house) but our neighbours have just announced they are extending out the back to create a larger kitchen and it got me thinking how nice the room would be if we did the same.

In a dream world the extension would be like a sun room. It would have patio doors to our outside decking so you could see out into the garden and windows with blinds by the company VELUX® in the roof, so you could alter the amount of light being let in. It would be light and airy in the summer when the sunshine would stream in and dark and cosy in the winter. Check out the VELUX webshop for details. It would be a place where Annie and any brothers or sisters could play and we could keep all her toys there! Maybe we would have an informal eating area to shelter from the rain when we have impromptu BBQ's and definitely some comfy sofas to relax with friends and chat into the night,  Have a look at the stunning pictures I found below...

Have you got any renovations planned?

Rachie xo

PS: This is a sponsored post by VELUX but as ever if I didn't think you would be interested then I wouldn't post! (And our neighbour really is planning to extend!)
