Spooky Halloween Mantel!

I shared my Autumn mantel a few weeks ago but I couldn't wait to change it up for Halloween! I do like themed decorating and couldn't resist the skull garland from Wilko which is new this year. Adding some colour is the vibrant orange gerberas and I added a small but perfectly formed pumpkin for luck!

You can see last years Halloween mantel here. I think this years is a bit more spooky!

Tuesday Tales from the Week!

The clocks have gone back so Winter feels like its knocking on the door already! I'm determined to make the most of Autumn though as it still feels quite mild out.

Here's what I got up to this week...
  • My friend Katie made these super cute Halloween gingerbread men for our friends babies first birthdays. Love them and they tasted delicious!
  • We went browsing around the farmer's market in my home town and admired the seasonal windows. Loved this one filled with pumpkins and gourds.
  • Bought some gorgeous orange gerberas for my Halloween mantel.
  • Had our first night out post Annie with my parents babysitting and had this delicious squid dish in a great tapas restaurant with good friends.

Halloween DIY!

Halloween is fast approaching so I thought I would post a few easy stylish Halloween ideas to gently nod to Halloween in a stylish way!

How about making this door hanging that I found on Pinterest? You can buy the letters from your local craft shop or eBay and spray paint them black and then just add a hessian ribbon or perhaps an orange one or black and white striped one?

Or how about painting some jam jars black and punching out some holes to make some lanterns - super cute for your porch or garden or even your windowsill?

I really like this free printable that you can frame and add to your mantel! I can never resit spots! To download click on over to Whipperberry.com here.

Tuesday Tales from the week!

Friends, country walks, and eating lots of cake was the general sum up of this week as we head into the depths of Autumn. I've been enjoying the last of the mild weather (I think!) before I dig out my winter coat and boots and the temperatures plummet.

Here's what else I have been up to....
  • Being visited by the lovely Will who met Baby Annie for the first time. I love this picture! It was so good to catch up (and he brought an amazing apricot frangipani dessert!)
  • We are really enjoying our baby sensory classes at the moment!
  • Deciding on my which Christmas decorations to pick...
  • Burgers with the hubs at Byron. The new le Smokey burger was delicious!
  • Country walks in the sunshine

Our Autumn Mantel.

Even with the arrival of the little one I was still determined to update my mantel to an Autumn theme as it had been neglected for ages. I used some hydrangea grown in my parents garden in my white square vase and collected a few conkers in the local park (some of them still in there spikey cases) which I put into the glass jars to show them off.

The black glass bottle is from H&M and normally lives in the bathroom but I thought it was a fun addition. My wooden pot from honeymoon added a bit of texture and was in keeping with the natural theme.  What do you think? I was rather pleased with how it turned out!

Newborn Shoot!

When Annie was seven days old we did a newborn shoot with her. We actually weren't sure whether to have one as I wasn't sure how I would be feeling after the birth (and our fantastic wedding photographers who were our first choice have now moved to the Caribbean and I didn't fancy strangers in my home when I wasn't feeling or looking at my best!)

However I was lucky enough to have a straight forward delivery and went home after only one night in hospital. So about 4 days after she arrived I started to think how much I wanted to document this precious time in our lives.

I have known Hannah from Hannah Mcclune Photography for a while as she went to university with my bestie and have always thought her pictures are stunning. However she is based over an hour from me and I knew she was pregnant so wasn't sure if she would be able to make the journey (or have any space for shoots left!) Luckily for us she did and she was amazing! (And so was Annie who didn't cry once! We are so pleased with the pictures. Here are our favourites....

If you are thinking of a newborn shoot or wedding photography then I cant recommend Hannah enough!

Happy Wednesday!

PS: I had to ditch my first choice outfit for the shoot as Annie was sick over me! Oh the glamour! #keepingitreal

Tuesday Tales from the Week !

I think I saw the last of the summer this week on a trip to RHS Wisley Gardens with Annie and my parents. It was beautiful weather - the sun was shining and I was even only wearing a t-shirt! So nice in October.

Here are a few pictures from our trip there....
  • I snapped this stunning picture of The Glasshouse against the water!
  • A carpet of beautiful blooms and an amazing bonsai tree!

A Rustic Autumn Wedding !

Happy Monday all!

Whilst looking for some Autumn inspiration I came across this whimsy meets rustic wedding on Grey likes Weddings and it just sums up the season for me. I am completely crushing on those blooms in berry tones at the moment and combined with all the rustic serving ware, those mercurised vases and the gold cutlery it just screams luxe and cosy. The picture below of the sun going down with those neon letters is just beautiful don't you think?

My Autumn Style !

Happy Wednesday all!

Autumn is definitely my favourite season for clothes and I've been updating my wardrobe over the past few weeks with a few new season finds that I thought I would share with you!

I needed a everyday bag to wear alongside all the baby stuff and purchased this mid sized messenger bag from Zara, perfect for my purse, phone and a few other essentials that I don't want to lose in the mountain of baby items required to take out with you!

I was also after some shoes to run around it and I spied these cute wedge heeled trainers from H&M which were super cheap (and I got a 30% discount!)   They are actually very comfy and I can see myself wearing them all the time this Autumn. I like the gold stud detailing!

My sister in law has just started selling Stella and Dot jewellery and I couldn't resist the renegade cluster bracelet that I have been eyeing for ages. (Well actually the hubs bought it for me!!)

I purchased these grey leggings from Mint Velvet when I was pregnant thinking I would get into them. No such luck then but I am living in them now - slightly more structured than regular leggings and smarter, they are actually really flattering to my post pregnancy figure.

More new season finds soon!

Tuesday Tales from the Week!

Coffee dates, walks and visiting friends means I'm really getting into my maternity leave now. However time is really flying!  Here's what I got up to this week...
  • Look how the leaves are falling from the trees in my neighbourhood. I love Autumn.
  • We attended Annie's first party for a friends little girl - look at these fab rainbow cakes!
  • We found this giant mushroom in our garden! (we didn't eat it!)
  • I seem to be very partial to almond croissants at the moment! (taken on what must have been my third coffee date that week!)
The highlight of the week was attending my friends baby shower with the cutest baby girl cupcakes! We had to include a baby picture of ourselves on the gift- here's mine!!

Friday Home: Autumn decor inspiration.

Now the weather is turning and my garden is full of leaves and apples falling from the trees I started to think about Autumn décor and how I can add some autumn-ness to the house...  I'll update more on this next week but in the meantime here are some lovely inspiration pics courtesy of my Autumn décor board on Pinterest.

I love idea of using hessian mixed in with greys, and fruit and vegetables...

Sticks of berries in coloured glass bottles feel very of the season..

Love the idea of using crab apples, acorns and leaves inside these glass containers...

Finally I'm not getting out the pumpkins for another week or two but I loved this simple display! The wheat sheaf wreath is lovely too!

More Autumn décor next week!

Happy Friday!

Free Printable Meal Planner !

Being a stay at home mum on maternity leave I've giving much more thought to trying to plan what we eat for dinner every day. Before the baby arrived the hubs and I would probably eat out together at least twice a week; I would be out with friends at least once, add to that one or two snack like meals such as cheese toasties on a weekend and I probably only made a proper meal twice or three times or so per week so never had to "plan" meals as such.  Anyway all that has changed and that's where this weeks "Meal Planner" free printable from The Pretty Blog comes in very handy! Download it here and stick it on the fridge! I hope it comes in useful to you too!

Happy Wednesday!
