Sunflower Dessert Table!

This sunflower dessert table epitomises the journey into Autumn that we are experiencing at the moment as it has a distinct harvest vibe with the wooden dresser as a base and all the oranges, yellows and browns. I particularly like the idea of displaying those sweet macaroons on top of the shot glasses of yellow sweets - such an elegant way of displaying them! I also love the use of the vintage books to create different heights on the table. For more pictures and the full write up then click on over to Amy Atlas Events Blog here.

My Pregnancy Essentials !

Following on from my last post on this about clothes I thought I would share with you what I would consider to be pregnancy essentials. These things just made everything a little bit easier!

1. Dream Genii pillow - Seriously this was a god send when at around 20 weeks I started to find sleeping a little difficult. It makes it way more comfortable. In fact I'm still using it now to help with breast feeding so its an investment purchase! It may look a little strange but trust me it works!

2.  Elemis Japanese Camellia Oil was the oil with the best reviews to beat stretchmark's as recommended by Victoria Beckham! (Love a celeb endorsement!) Actually I still got a few on my lower belly but I think that might have been where I missed a few spots when rubbing it in. Its an oil but isn't greasy and left my skin feeling moisturised.

3. Baby on board badge. I was commuting in London up until 37 weeks and the badge just reminded people that you need a seat as its gets very crowded! This was a god send especially in that in-between stage where people aren't sure that you are pregnant. My final trimester fell in the hot summer on non air conditioned trains!  Definitely get one if you have to commute ! .

Tuesday Tales from the week!

Hi all!

Hope you had a lovely week! We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of my new nephew at the moment. Fingers crossed he arrives soon. Here is what I have been up to this week...

1. More beautiful flowers - I love the colours of these which were from the hubs friends that came to visit.
2. New hair!  - I got a fringe! Do you like?
3. Postcards from Santorini make me very jealous! Thanks Will :-)
4. Visiting the in-laws and a walk with views across Salisbury plain. I couldn't get Stonehenge in but its in the background!

One Month Old!

Happy Monday all!

I took this picture when Annie was one month as I'm going to try and document how much she has grown on the blog. I'm a little late posting actually as she is nearly 7 weeks now! (Its hard to find time!) but I figure better late than never! Here she is!

A Chi Chi Affair
At one month old I feel like we are really getting to know her now, working out her cries and trying to find some semblance of a routine. We have been on her first longish (2 hour) car journey to visit my parents (Annie's Nanny and Granddad) and stayed away from home for the first time. We have celebrated Daddy's 35th birthday with a BBQ and met all her cousins.  We still don't know whether her eyes will be brown (like daddy's) or blue (like mine!)

Happy Thursday!

Tuesday Tales from the Week!

I am back with Tuesday tales from the week! I love these posts as they serve as a reminder of what I have been up too  - okay,  my life is slightly less glam at the moment but I still like to document it. I hope you enjoy reading!

Here's what I have been up to:
  • Duck Eggs for breakfast at my mums house - the yolks were huge!
  • Look at the grapes growing in their garden - Clearly we have had a very hot summer!
  • First time entertaining for friends since Annie arrived was a success! (Even if all the food was from M&S!)
  • Annie showing off her new Boden coat in the distinctly Autumn like temperatures on Sunday.
  • First cocktails since the birth accompanying the first roast dinner of the season. Cosy!

My Pregnancy essentials : Clothes

I meant to write this post late in pregnancy when I was still on maternity leave but I left it a bit late and Annie arrived at 39 weeks!! Anyway I still think its a relevant post for any of you that are planning a pregnancy! I'm going to split this into a few posts, clothes, random items and then books and apps. For any of you mums feel free to chip in with things you may have found useful to you!

First up clothes!  I really enjoyed dressing the bump and didn't really tire of my maternity wardrobe at all! Its much more challenging dressing for breastfeeding with weight still to lose I think!  For the most part I went with form fitting clothes that showed off the bump as it just looked more flattering than covering everything up. Here are my top purchases...

1. I loved the Isabella Oliver Cap scoop tops which were so easy to wear and good to layer with cardigans too. I had three, a khaki one, black v neck one and a grey one and they are stretchy enough to still wear post pregnancy which is good.

2. Trousers with an elasticated waist: Luckily for me these were all over the shops this spring and summer and I had a couple of pairs, one from Primark and one from Zara that saw a lot of wear! I wore them under the bump and just sized up as I couldn't find any maternity ones. Again I'm still wearing these now!

3. I originally had some Gap maternity jeans and although they were a really nice fit they wore out so quickly between the legs (this may be just me!!) so in the end I went with some Topshop Leigh ones which were quite stretchy and a nice fit.

4. Black maxi dress - Mine was from New Look and wasn't maternity and I literally wore this all the time in pregnancy. In fact I wore it to the hospital when I was induced and it was so quick I ended up giving birth in it!!

So that's my round up! Do let me know what you think and if you have any other good ideas!

Kitchen Themed Bridal Shower !

Hi everyone!

I'm going to be aiming to do 2-3 posts a week over the next couple of months - do bear with me as those of you who are mums know its certainly busy and I may not always stick to this but its something to aim for right?!

Anyway how did we get to September?! I love Autumn; maybe not as much as summer but it always feels cosy with the nights drawing in a bit. I always tend to buy a ton of clothes and accessories as the shops always have the best things as they transition into the new season! I'll share my wish list for over the next few weeks and stay tuned for a couple of pregnancy and baby posts too.

This kitchen bridal shower by HWTM blog felt rather Autumnal to me almost like Harvest time and I really liked the styling so I thought I would share it with you... I adore the originality of using kitchen items to hold centre pieces like the mixer and colander here and aren't those cupcake toppers cute? Perfect for chef Alina.
