Annie's Nursery Revealed! Before and After!

Hi all!

Thanks for all the well wishes on the birth of Annie. She is such a lovely little girl and is doing well and gaining weight rapidly.

After a couple of weeks at home I finally have a second (thanks to hubs and the long weekend) to blog the pictures of Annie's nursery! You can see a couple of the detail posts here and here and here and I'll post details of all the items I have chosen at the end of the post.   Once we found out we were having a little girl I always envisioned a graphic bright nursery for her and we had such fun creating this one. Without further ado - here are the before and the after pictures!

Before! - This picture was  taken just after we moved in three years ago hence all the boxes; but basically apart from putting a bed in here it had remained this horrible since then!  The cupboard in the corner housed the boiler, but since then we have upgraded to a combi system so the boiler is no more hence a little bit more space on that side.  We replaced the carpet to a more neutral colour and had the walls re-plastered and painted white which offsets all the other bright colours in the room I think!

After!

It is such a bright and colourful space now!  We decided to keep the majority of the furniture in the room white, opting for basics from John Lewis and Ikea for the cot, daybed and drawers (which we are using as a changing table.)  The statement pieces in the room are the gorgeous pink chair from Argos (see this post)  and the rug from Urban Outfitters and curtains made by my Mother in Law with fabric from Fabric Rehab. I was a little worried about the clashing patterns but I think it works well actually! The bunting gifted from my good friend Will was a late addition added only after Annie was born but it just finishes the room so nicely!

Friday Home: Bathroom Accessories !

I blogged about our bathroom renovation back in July and it took slightly longer than expected but it is now finished!! I will share the pictures very soon but I wanted to first blog about some of the accessories we have chosen to finish the room.

With a white subway tile and a modern yet retro feel, grey walls and lots of stainless steel we were looking for accessories to also have a similar feel. I found these gorgeous ones from H&M home in their Simple living range and they really fit the look we were going for. I like the industrial feel.

H&M
We also felt it lacked a few natural materials so furniture wise we chose this console and mirror from the Next Salisbury range. It fits in so nicely!

Next

Hope you like my choices!
Happy Weekend!

Visit to Cotswold 88 Hotel - a review!

Hi everyone!
A few weeks ago we went to a lovely hotel called Cotswold 88 for our 1st wedding anniversary and I thought I would write a quick review and share the pictures should you be looking for somewhere to stay for a special occasion!

With just 17 rooms the Cotswold stone hotel has a boutique feel and is set in the picturesque Cotswold hills in the small village of Painswick. We didn't actually venture out of the hotel because we were only staying for one night, however its very near to where I grew up so I can assure you if you do venture into the town it is lovely with the main highlight being the beautiful Rococo Garden and some lovely quaint shops.

We arrived around 3pm and as it was a gorgeous day we sat in the gardens and had a lovely afternoon tea which was very reasonable at around £25 (I think) for two people. The cakes were especially delicious and the views across the hills were stunning.

Our room was larger than I had expected and decorated with a very striking wall paper - it was however rather hot (however as we don't normally have that problem in the UK I'm not complaining!) The large bed was especially comfortable and in the winter the room would have been very cosy.  In the other areas of the hotel the décor was beautiful and I particularly loved the dining room with the striped carpet (Stripes seem to be a theme!) The lounge where you could take drinks in the evening had a kind of Alice in Wonderland theme I thought!

As the hubs and I are really into our food (and being pregnant I wouldn't be drinking!) we were particularly taken with the Juniper bar and restaurant which was of an extremely high standard and I would say worthy of a michelin star. There were two amuse bouche pre starters, one was a very memorable gazpacho. I then started with foie gras and the hubs had ceviche of scallops. For the main we both had the Jacobs ladders braised beef with a marrow bone croquette which was absolutely delicious and for dessert I had the pistachio mille fuille (picture below) and the hubs had a caramel crème brulee which he very much enjoyed! I have to say its not often that the food is that memorable but we really enjoyed this meal and the service. It was quite reasonable too - around £100 for two courses.

The cocktails were also well mixed and even my non alcoholic mojito tasted almost like the real thing!

The following day we relaxed until check out and enjoyed a very leisurely but delicious full English breakfast complete with home made granola, fruit, various cheeses and meats. The food and service at Cotswold 88 were definitely the highlight of the stay and if you are into your restaurants then I would really recommend a trip here. Combine this with the lovely décor and location, it was the perfect place to relax, get away from everything and celebrate our anniversary.

Bear themed first birthday Party!

Have a look at this adorable bear themed first birthday party for little Beckham by Ashlyn from Carter and Cook Events. I love it and its such a cute theme. It was actually inspired by a Christmas card by Gingiber - a designer from Etsy and funnily enough I actually bought some of her prints for the nursery (more this week!)

Anyway there are some beautiful ideas here like the cute cookies, and the beautiful little hats for the children to wear! I also love the idea of  taking one picture per month and framing them in a college. I would love to do this for my impending little one!

Friday Home: Nursery Sneak Peak - The Pink Chair!

Excitingly I have another sneak peak of the nursery today and this one comes in the form of furniture. We always knew we needed a chair for me to feed the baby on so the hunt began in ernest. I definitely wanted something a bit more exciting than a standard nursing chair and something in a bright colour too.

Luckily I was very kindly contacted by Argos who offered something for the nursery and I found this absolutely gorgeous pink  Amanda Accent Chair! We have an Argos in our town so we often pop in to pick up bits and bobs and its definitely worth a look for beauties like our new chair! They also sell a range of Habitat stock so do pop by and take a look at their new ranges including a lovely children s range too! The chair is super comfy and fits so nicely with the rest of the decor.

More on the nursery and the final reveal soon! We are hanging curtains this weekend!  If you want to see more nursery posts then hop over to this post on the soft furnishings we have chosen so far.

Happy Weekend!

PS: This post is supported by Argos but if you wouldn't find it in my home then I wouldn't blog about it!
