Happy New Year!

So its time to say goodbye to 2013, the year I was pregnant, the year I faced some big work challenges, the year I blogged a little bit less, the year I made some new friends, the year I had my beautiful baby girl, the year that made me a mother....

Its safe to say that 2013 has been an amazing one...  Thank you all for reading and sticking with me on this journey. I love my little blog and am thankful for each and every one of you reading and commenting, Thank you!

I've put together a little montage of quotes from Pinterest that I found particularly inspirational!!

I wish you and your families a fun-filled, joyous and most of all a very Happy New Year

My Christmas Decoration Home Tour:

I'm signing off for Christmas with a peak into my Christmas decorations this year. I tried to keep the style inside the house quite playful this year and went for a classic red and white theme.

First up the living room! And our tree!

And a close up of the mantel...

A Chi Chi Affair
My favourite Christmas decorations on the tree. The A is from Anthropologie, the heart from Not on the High Street, the glitter A I made myself and the round red heart ones are from Butlers

A Chi Chi Affair
I thought these gingers were suitably festive and I think three was enough to make a statement.

Love my eucalyptus and berry display this year.

I went for a living wreath this year. Love the colours against the blue of the door (which isn't quite finished yet but you can see our new fox knocker from Anthopologie! More in the new year.)

And that's it from me until after Christmas. I hope you have a very merry time and a happy new year!

Thanks for reading.

DIY : Personalised Christmas Bauble

Here's a cute DIY for you if you are looking for some new Christmas ornaments or a quick gift for someone special. Why not make your own personalised Christmas bauble? Its super easy but I love how it looks!

A Chi Chi Affair
 Here's how I made mine.

First up you need:

Plain bauble : I bought mine for Wilko.
Glitter
Sequins
Stick Glue
Paper
Scissors
Blue Tak
Twine.

A Chi Chi Affair
Draw or print out a letter.  I'm using the letter A for my daughters name Annie. Cut it out carefully to make a stencil and stick it to the bauble using the blu tak. You need to be careful to stick it down carefully and close to the bauble so the glitter cant seep through the sides and you get a clean line.

A Chi Chi Affair
Cover the template with the glue stick being careful that it spreads evenly and pour on the glitter.

A Chi Chi Affair
Tap off the excess glitter and leave to dry. Then carefully peel of the backing paper and you should be left with the glitter letter!

A Chi Chi Affair
Fill with your sequins and fasten on your twine so that you can hang it on your tree!

A Chi Chi Affair.

Why not make one for your entire family!

Rustic Woodland Christmas Party!

I thought I would post some Christmas party inspiration if you are throwing some parties over the festive season. I love this rustic woodland party shoot, the natural textures mixed in with the red give it such a holiday feel.  Love the details such as the candy canes tied with brown string, the red satin bows on the presents and the wooden cutlery decorated with red and white washi tape.  The fantastic printables tie this look together and they are available to buy from Modern Moments Design here. You can also see more ideas and pics on Hostess blog so do click over!

Now to finish my decorating!

West Elm London!

Last week I was lucky enough to be invited to the bloggers preview of West Elm London - a new interiors store over from the USA located on Tottenham Court Road. Now I love an interiors store and frankly on the British High Street I feel like we are a bit short changed when it comes to interiors . The destination stores tend to be hugely expensive, the department stores never stock full ranges and then there is Ikea. (I love Ikea but do you really want to stock your whole home there?!)

So this is why I'm so excited about West Elm - there is nothing like it on the high street at the moment. It seems to bridge that gap between Ikea and Heals and the price point is really reasonable. The store itself is also worth a visit and be prepared to spend at least an hour there.  We were lucky enough to have a tour of the store by creative director Vanessa Holden, past the Etsy art wall that my friend Will from Bright Bazaar created, through the Design Lab where they offer a free home stylist service and back up to the Market place with a little coffee shop and tons of kitchen items and foodie goods to buy and loads more.

Here are a few of my pics but to read a proper sneak peak then pop over to Bright Bazaar blog here.

Tuesday Tales from the Week!

Ooh what a busy week! I guess its always like this on the run up to Christmas but with little one to care for I am feeling a little behind with the preparation this year!

Here's what I got up to this week!

  • Choosing our Christmas tree. We chose a living one this year so it can be potted in the garden afterwards. Someone slept right through it!!
  • Loved the dining room in the pub where we went for Saturday lunch. The upholstery on the chairs was particularly fab.
  • Went out for dinner with a good friend to Sticks and Sushi in Wimbledon. Loved the cocktails there too.
  • Went to the bloggers preview of West Elm - more on Thursday!  Its amazing.
  • Whilst in London I popped into J Crew. Loved the pops of colour on the gorgeous knitwear!

Hot Cocoa Party!

Here's a great idea for a night on the run up to Christmas - how about hosting a hot cocoa party for family and friends? (Or just at home with your little ones!)  I love the styling on this one from Birds Party and the best thing is that you can buy the printables set for just $5.99. The set includes hot cocoa banner, mini straw flags, buffet tags and loads more!  Its such a sweet idea for a party!  Click on the link here for the printables and to see all the pictures.

Tuesday Tales from the Week!

Happy December! The festive season is here and the arrival of little Annie means that I'm much more excited than in past years. We hope to get our tree this weekend so I'll be digging the decorations out of the loft this week! Woop!

Here's what I got up to this week...

  • A trip to Guildford on the train where we ate lunch in Jamie's Italian and visited the new Anthropologie.
  • Annie is enjoying her baby sensory classes!
  • We celebrated my nephew Oscars 1st Birthday!! Such a milestone! Happy Birthday little man!

A Chi Chi Affair
We also went for a night out in London and really enjoyed seeing Jools Holland (and Mel C) at The Royal Albert Hall! I had booked this as a 1st anniversary gift before we had Annie and it felt rather strange to finally be celebrating with our little monkey at home!  We finished off the night with cocktails at Skylon on the South Bank and admired the pretty lights!

Glitter Winter Wedding!

Happy Monday! Hope you had a great weekend! I'm posting this glitter winter wedding that I found on Ruffled blog as not only is it beautiful, but there is a ton of inspiration that you can also use in your Christmas decorating.

The baby's breath bouquet would make a beautiful table centre piece (and its cheap too!) Combined with mercurised tableware it looks so ethereal and pretty. I'm also loving the pine cones as place holders. Try spraying them with glitter for an even more sparkly effect. The gold glitter mini pegs would look great to hold up your Christmas cards too.
