My Christmas Decorations 2012

Well its almost time for me to have a little blogging break over the Christmas holidays, spend time with my family, eat lots, go on some lovely long walks in the countryside and generally relax. I'll be checking in a few times to show you my Christmas gifts and what I have been up to so do check in from time to time! :-)   In the meantime I couldn't go without showing you the Christmas decorations around my home!

In the kitchen I went for a snowy look of white and blue. The pine cone garland is a new purchase from the garden centre and I picked up that little Bambi for only £1!

In the living room I went for all out gold with lots of the gold tea light holders that were used in my wedding. I love them! I accented with a burlap banner in the fireplace banner (which has been recently painted white and the wooden slats added) and the small wooden Habitat Christmas tree. The living room is due for a over haul in 2013 and I cant wait to get rid of the green walls and carpet!!

So all that is left for me to say is Thank you so much to all my readers for your continued support throughout 2012. It truly was a great year! In the UK we celebrated the Queens jubilee, the Olympics and on a personal note my wedding and honeymoon. I loved reading all your amazing comments - they brought be such joy! Please do keep reading in 2013. It looks set to be a great year!

I wish you all a very Happy Christmas and a very peaceful and love filled New Year!

Last Minute Festive Hostess Gifts or Favours!

I fully intend on doing some Christmas baking this weekend and because Christmas falls on a Tuesday I will hopefully have a little more time than the usual festive rush!  Woop!  I'm thinking about making some simple favours for Christmas lunch to give to my guests and I have found some lovely ideas I thought I would share with you!

First up is this French Almond Nougat.  My husband loves this so I know it would go down a treat and I didn't even know you could make it yourself! Click over here for the recipe and if you are in the UK you can substitute corn syrup with golden syrup.  Wrap this up in brown paper and use some festive ribbon to dress it up!

Okay this technically isn't a recipe but I thought these mulled wine sachets are such a cute gift and would look lovely as a place setting. Click over here for how to make them! They are super simple!

Or how about some spiced nuts?  You could put these in a jam jar with some festive fabric over the top and tie a little ribbon. I would love to receive these!
Happy festive cooking!

Whimsical Winter Wonderland Dessert Table!

This whimsical wonderland snowy dessert table from Hostess blog is so perfect for the festive season. It is full of sweet snowy surprises! The scene was set against an antique window backdrop framed with snowy trees decked out with birds and edible cookie snowflakes.

My favourite details are the snow rimmed mint martinis with a red bird and peppermint garnish, and I love how the table is anchored by those two white sprayed branches with hanging snowflake cookies and homemade birds. I hope this gives you inspiration for your holiday decorating! Click over for the full details and more pictures. Oh and all the beautiful printables are available to buy here.

Happy Monday!

If you are hosting this Christmas or having a Christmas gathering then you are probably looking for easy food ideas! These brownie pops that I found on Bakers Royale blog are really easy to make and look totally delicious and impressive too.  Perfect for a drinks party with mulled wine and cocktails! I am definitely adding these to my christmas cooking list.

Pretty Wrapping Ideas

Happy Thursday All!

I thought I would share with you a few different wrapping ideas today that I have seen around the place. There are so many innovative ideas around!

I love this colour palate of mint and black - it looks very fresh and lovely for a modern Christmas! That wide striped ribbon is also so luxe and fabulous!

I'm always in favour of using natural materials and I really like the idea here of using a sprig of holly or mistletoe next to the brown paper. The named sticker is also a lovely touch!  In the bottom picture I also really like the fern DIY wreath against the red and white bakers string!

Or how about using Washi tape to make a pretty pattern? - I love the black and white but you could buy some festive red and white, green or any colours you like!
Happy Thursday!

Christmas Table Inspiration: Gold and White

As I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I am hosting Christmas again this year so I'm looking for some ideas for my festive table! Last year I did red and white and this year I think I'm going for a kind of rustic luxe vibe with hints of gold and natural textures.

Fresh flowers are an absolute must on my table and I love the crisp whites and soft greens in this picture. I also like the addition of pears as a name place. Perhaps I could spray these gold?

I adore the lights strung around the mirror and those chunky silver candlesticks are such a statement piece. I also like those mercurised votives with the white roses. So pretty!

I adore the idea of tying natural coloured napkins with cinnamon, jute string and a sprig of pine tree.

Tying snowflakes to the backs of the chairs is such a cute idea and I like the way the runners go width ways across the table instead of length ways. Its a nice idea to see the tables natural colour coming through.
How are you decorating your Christmas table this year?

Friday Home: Hot Cocoa Stir Sticks!

I love creating new traditions at Christmas and I think I have just found another one which would be perfect for cosying up on Christmas eve by the fire!

I found this on the lovely Bridgey Widgey blog and it's super easy to make as it only contains
candy cane rods, marshmallows, sprinkles, and white chocolate! I know the little ones will totally love this! (And the big kids too!)

Click over for the how to.

Christmas Cards round up!

Have you started sending out your Christmas cards yet?  The international date for posting for all my friends and family abroad comes around so quickly I always miss it! I don't even have my cards yet! Anyway I thought I would do a little round up of the best ones I have seen this year - I love all of these!

You can't beat Paperchase for stylish cards and I love these woodland ones. And these John Lewis ones are also pretty special and I absolutely love the gold envelope lining and those gold stickers!

I really like the vintage feel of these from Etsy and these Next ones are fun and so reasonably priced!

Finally these are my favourite by Berinmade as I love a monogram and adore the way these can be personalised! They are so stylish!

Do let me know your favourite!

DIY Christmas Crackers

I completely love this DIY Christmas cracker that I found on The Pretty Blog. Its just such a fab idea and most of the items to make this will be found already in your own home.  Plus its easy to make and will even save space on your Christmas table as the crackers are made out of napkins!
You could use any ribbon you can find to coordinate with your Christmas table and you personalise the treats inside for each guest! This would be lovely for a Christmas wedding with the favour inside too.  Click over to The Pretty Blog here for the full how to and more pictures.

Alphabet Themed Baby Shower

In honour of the newest member of our family my newborn baby nephew Oscar who made an appearance on Saturday - Whoop! I'm posting this gorgeous alphabet themed baby shower that I found at Onto Baby by Jennifer of Its an Occasion.

I love the subtle mint and pink colour scheme and I think the activity of wrapping a letter in wool for the mum to be to hang in the nursery is such a lovely idea!  I also really like the DIY tassel garland which you can click over to find a tutorial here. It really brightens up the dessert table.  Those favour bags with the white chocolate letters are so pretty too.  Click over to Onto Baby for more pictures and the write up.
 Happy Monday!
