Fabulous Friday Food: A Pink Cake Tutorial

Hi all

Happy Friday!

Okay this isnt a recipe as such but I thought it was such a useful tutorial for frosting a cake I just had to post it. It would be so beautiful for a birthday and dont forget you can use different colours! (Maybe a rainbow!) However saying that I love how Linda has used different shades of the same colour!  Super stylish!

Have you heard of Washi tape? It's Japanese coloured sticky tape and its so much fun! Use it for the traditional  wrapping up presents like this...

Papernation

Or maybe to decorate your note books like this!

Wedding Wednesday: Our Videographer!

One of the very exciting things I've done over the last few weeks for the wedding is to confirm the videographer. My day job dictates that I'm picking about my videography so I wanted to have someone with a style that I really liked. Nothing too cheesy!

I stumbled across Reel Love Films on one of my trawls and I instantly loved their upbeat contemporary style. In fact when you watch their films they instantly convey the happiness in the day which is exactly what I wanted. In addition to this Frances was just so friendly and lovely on email that I'm really looking forward to her shooting our wedding!

Another tick off the list!!

Autumn Dessert Party

The nights are definitely drawing in, in the UK and thoughts are definitely turning to Autumn. Thats why I really liked this Autumn dessert party. The styling is really sweet. I love all the rustic colours.

A few particular details caught my eye which you could easily include in your autumn styling, that bowl of rosy apples makes a perfect autumn centrepiece and that cinnamon tied with berries at each place is such a stylish touch with the vintage hankerchief.  Plus I love those mini pies with the little flags.

The bedroom - initial thoughts!

Okay we've had a little bit of a break since the study was completed a few weeks ago but now Autumn is drawing in so we've decided to kick start the DIY and our master bedroom is next in line! At the moment the bedroom is plain - very plain with a dark blue carpet, dark green curtains (that I really cant live with for much longer) and light blue walls which are in need of a re plaster! I cant even bear to show you a picture yet...  There is no styling going on whatsoever in there so I'm desperate to get going.

Initial thoughts are that we need something calming, somewhere that is a luxurious and sanctuary. We definitely need to replace the carpet for different flooring, get in some more soft furnishings, paint the wardrobe, maybe get some new bedside tables...

Here are my inspiration pics so far.

Wedding Wednesday - To veil or not to veil

Pinterest

Pinterest

Now I've always known I wanted to wear a veil for our wedding. I'm not really sure why as I'm not really a complete traditionalist in other ways but it's something I'm quite set on!

Now It's possibly because it's something you can only get away with wearing that one day in your life, the one thing that sets you apart as the bride and i can't deny that when I've been trying on dresses it's the veil that seems to complete the look. I think that the right one can look very elegant. Also I need to do justice to the beautiful church and can therefore get away with something quite grand!

I always imagined I would wear a long veil just single layer in the back of my hair but recently I've been thinking I might wear a bigger one as I've seen some really stunning classic pics of brides that have chosen this option!

I'm also toying with the idea of a bird cage one after the ceremony! I just think they are very cool!

What do you think?

Tuesday Tales from the Week!

Hi everyone!

Hope you've had a lovely week! Mine has been manic (seems to be a theme at the moment) but I'm looking forward to a quieter time this week and a holiday soon too! ;-)

Here's what I have been up to....

In my day job I've been filming at a lovely place, have a look at the retro decor! I love the scooter and that pretty wall paper!

A Chi Chi Affair

Slightly strange to take pictures of the bathroom but I couldnt resist as I adore the mosiac floor and those tiles. The mismatched mirrors are also lovely!

A Chi Chi Affair

Finally I had a well deserved day off yesterday after working all weekend and indulged myself in a trip to the cinema. I love SJP and this movie was a real chick flick!!

A Vintage Bridal Shower

I'm starting the week with this lovely vintage bridal shower as shown on Style Me Pretty which is full of amazing inspiration.  The dusky pink colour palate is really stylish, I love how the food also works with the colour scheme and there are some beautiful touches. I'm particularly loving the ruffle cake and that cute cake decoration! Look at the vintage lace curtain on the cabinet - its super pretty.

Fabulous Friday Food : Natural Bran Muffins with maple syrup and dates

I have a serious sweet tooth and would eat cakes every day if I could. So when I come across something that combines good healthy ingredients with cake I always jump at the chance to make it.

These natural bran muffins with maple syrup and dates look absolutely delicious.  They would be yummy as a snack, in a little ones lunch box or for brunch!

Wedding Wednesday: The Dress

Pinterest

Okay not The Dress! I haven’t completely made up my mind yet but I thought I would share with you where I am so far. I have been dress shopping three times, once with my bestie Rosie in my home town while she was over from Australia, once on my own (to focus!!) and once with my little sister.

They have all been fab actually, the first time I was so excited to try them on I thought I may have made my choice in the first one I tried!! And I tried on such a range of styles which was so much fun, lacy, streamlined, huge! I was also so pleased I was able to share this moment with Rosie as its truly a best friend thing to do and we went to a lovely shop in my home town where I had been eagerly looking through the windows for ages!

The 2nd time I went on my own to a lovely shop and I was truly able to be decisive and visualise what I wanted to look like on the day. I tried on about five dresses and found a really lovely one that may just be it!! EEK!

The third time was with my darling sister and we went to a couple of shops including back to the shop where I had tried on the one I loved. It was great to get her opinion and I was pleased she liked the one that I liked too – there were even tears! Now I have one more try on taking my mum and both my sisters! I’m going to have a last try on of a range of styles and also make sure they also like the one I love! I'll share this with you soon!

Fingers crossed!!

Tuesday Tales from the Week!

Wow this week has come round again super quick! Here's what I got up to!

Best day of the week was Saturday when I went wedding dress shopping with my little sis! We had such a fun day out...

A Chi Chi Affair

I actually bought these goodies from Zara Home a few weeks ago and totally forgot to show you!  They were all bargain sale buys. I particulary love the stripy placemats - they add so much colour to my home!

A Chi Chi Affair

Saw this stunning home in Guardian weekend saturday newspaper. Its the designers Antoni and Alison and I love it, particularly the exposed brick work and the high ceilings!

Hope you have a lovely week!

Intimate Garden Cocktail Party

This intimate garden cocktail party from Celebrations at Home is really inspiring as it shows something you can do in your own garden!

I particularly love the lanterns - we have some similar at home and this intimate soiree is such a good use for them. Other touches I love are the little blackboard sticks in the food and the jam jar glasses for the wine tied with the string. Oh and the food looks completely delicious! YUM!

Crisp white styling and free printables

I adore this styled shoot found on the newly revamped The Pretty Blog. Its just super crisp and pretty and I really like a natural colour palate! My favourite bits are the bottles filled with milk tied with the ribbon which would be such a cute idea to try at home.

Plus there are also FREE PRINTABLES!! You can download the placemat and paper napkin ring used in the shoot! They are some of the loveliest I have ever seen. Oh and lovely for a bridal shower or baby shower as well as to try at home.

Wedding Wednesday! More honeymoon ideas!

We are still undecided about our honeymoon and this week whilst browsing on the fabulous The Honeymoon Project website I came across Bali. We love Asia - we went on one of our best holidays to Thailand a few years ago and it was so relaxing and gorgeous.  I know with the stress of the wedding then we are definitely going to want to relax and Bali does seem to have a mix of gorgeous beaches, as well as culture too...   Oh and I love Asian food!!

Have a look at these beautiful pictures!! I want to go now!!
