Fabulous Friday Food: Party Bites.

Happy Friday All

If you feel like baking this weekend or if you have a party coming up then I'm sharing with you a few of the recipes that I baked for my sisters hen night.

First up Sausage rolls!

I used the recipe from the fab (!) BBC series Baking made easy. This recipe is so simple but its honestly super tasty so do take a look here. There is even a video here!

A Chi Chi Affair

I also made these mini victoria sandwiches which I baked in regular muffin tins and then just sliced in half and filled with buttercream and jam. I was looking for a recipe that would mean the cakes came out with a flat top and this recipe with a high sugar count turned out really well. The recipe is here. I then dusted the top with icing sugar.

A Chi Chi Affair

I made these yummy chocolate cupcakes from Hummingbird Bakery. They were delicious and had a great chocolatey texture. I then iced them with buttercream and used some sprinkles on top.  You can find the recipe here.

Finally I made these chocolate cookies as a bedtime snack also from The Hummingbird Bakery. Again they were super simple and turned out really well, they are a great consistency. The recipe is here.

Hope you like the recipes!

Have a fab weekend all!

Paper Flowers Tutorials

My sister is getting married this Saturday - EEKK!! So please forgive me if I don't visit your blogs for a couple of days as I'll be knee deep in the preparations. My sisters my mum and I have done a little bit of DIY and I'll be sharing some of the details and the table centrepiece tutorial with you in the next week or so.

One of the ideas I came across when looking for decorations was this fab paper flowers tutorial which you could use for any kind of party, they would be great for a baby shower, hen night or bridal shower or just a chic garden party.

Do click through to the fabulous Pizzazzerie here to get the full tutorial.

Glam -Camping Party

I came across this shoot by The Tomkat studio a few days ago to showcase their new glamping (glam-camping!) range of printables and I thought it was such a cute idea for a  children's party. Check out the post here, there are some great ideas and its something you could easily recreate in the garden.

You could even have a camp fire and toast marshmallows and a BBQ.   For slightly older children this is a great theme for a sleep over - its almost like a festival vibe.

Fabulous Friday Food: Cheats Strawberry Trifle

I'm always searching for the perfect make in advance dinner party dessert, especially as I've normally had a few glasses of wine by dessert and therefore its never perfect! This is a great recipe by Donna Hay. I love her website, her recipes are so yummy, so do take a look!

Ingredients
4 slices thick brioche
1 cup (150g) sliced strawberries
¼ cup (60ml) dessert wine
1 tablespoon caster (superfine) sugar
1 ½ cup (375ml) store-bought custard
1 ½ tablespoon finely grated orange rind
⅓ cup (80ml) pouring (single) cream
Finely grated orange rind, extra, to serve

Method
Use a round cookie cutter to cut 4 x 7cm-rounds from the brioche and place in the base of 4 x 1 cup-capacity (250ml) glasses. Place the strawberries, wine and sugar in a bowl and mix well to combine. Spoon the strawberry mixture over the brioche rounds. Combine custard and rind and spoon over strawberry mixture. Top with cream and sprinkle with extra rind to serve. Serves 4.

Brilliant Boutique Businesses: Sweet Dream Events

This week on Brilliant Boutique Businesses I'm featuring a lovely lady who has set up a gorgeous little business and its so stylish too! She has an incredible eye for style and detail which is shown in all her styling so I'm super proud to welcome Sweet Dream Events to A Chi Chi Affair.

Over to you Hannah!

Tell us about your business

Sweet Dream Events specialises in event styling and sweet and dessert buffets. We style your event to reflect you, with endless ideas and attention to detail. Sweet and dessert buffets are tailor made, no two tables are the same, theme, styles and colour scheme. Tasty and visually stimulating, Displays can be on far more than just tables and what we provide is far more than just sweets in jars.

What was your inspiration behind starting the company?

I have always been a dreamer, a brain that produces ideas that I think will work as a business, some make sense and some don't, This was a job that I wanted to do and I have so much drive and passion to produce events that will keep people talking for years.
I was rather disheartened after my own wedding that I found it so hard to find suppliers who were excited about what they do. I felt I was on a conveyor belt of many brides to them. So after a career in interior design and decorative art i felt it was a natural progression to turn my hand to event styling and dessert buffets

What kind of events do you cater for?

If there is an event, I can cater for it. Children's parties, weddings, baby showers, birthday parties, you name it and I love to do it.

Share your favourite event so far.

I really cannot tell you a favourite as all my events are special in their own way. But of course my wedding will always be my favourite, I really did love every second of planning it and the day itself. It really is not about how much money you spend, its working out what matters and what is important, unique personal touches and attention to detail so your guests feel as special as you do.

How can people contact you?

Since Sweet Dream Events went live I have found myself exploring the whole new world of twitter and blogging. So you can follow me on twitter @sweetdreamevent or my website www.sweetdreamevents.co.uk. I try to blog every other day, inspiration and rambling. Please feel free to get in touch about any matter, I will be starting my DIY tutorials on my blog soon, I am quite a crafty and handy girl. Coming from a family of boys and builders has helped!!!

Thank you so much Hannah. I'm so excited to feature Sweet Dream Events. Please do make sure you pay the website and the blog a visit as they are both so inspirational!
