Wedding Wednesday - Initial Honeymoon Thoughts

As well as the wedding I think I'm equally looking forward to the honeymoon!! We're lucky enough to have been on lots of lovely holidays in our time, Australia, Thailand, Barbados, South Africa, Europe so we're looking for something slightly different for our honeymoon. We're definitely on the hunt for sunshine (H2B is always looking for this!) so a cold destination is out...

One of the contenders is the USA! Namely, driving route 1 from San Franscisco to LA, taking in the vineyards of the Napa Valley, the Big Sur and some beach life in LA.  Have any of you done this? Do you have any advice?

If you're a regular reader of  A Chi Chi Affair - you'll see I'm a big fan of hotels so here are a couple that I have been scouting out!

1. Post Ranch Inn - Okay this is serious £££ but I would love to stay here. You can even sleep in a tree house and the views are beyond stunning!

2. Carneros Inn  I just love the look of this one, its set in the winegrowing region of Napa Valley and you stay in cottage amongst the vineyards, apple orchards and farmland. The styling of the cottages is divine, so cosy and romantic!!  Oh and the food is all locally sourced and organic too.

Have you visited any of these hotels? What are your thoughts? I would love to hear!

We've taken that trip, and it's gorgeous!!!! All the towns along the way...santa barbara, monterrey, carmel...all gorgeous. But Big Sur is stunning. Post Ranch and La Ventana are the fancy-pants places there. But everything will be so cheap for you, going from the pound to the dollar!!! #jealous

I'm loving your ideas as a honeymoon. Despite living in the USA, I have not been as far west as CA and would love to do that ride especially if I were able to stay in one of those hotels although I would have a hard time choosing which!! They both sound great. Definitely bookmarking those for future places to stay :) xxx
P.S. Brynn from http://chartreuseandatwist.blogspot.com is actually in wine country right now- she may have some great suggestions!

Fabulous honeymoon idea and loving the hotels! I've not been to the US yet (although New York is very much near the top of the list), so can't say much else, I'm afraid!
