New Series: Brilliant Boutique Businesses

A new feature on A Chi Chi Affair is showcasing UK businesses within the party industry that are really doing things well! Those stylish go to places and businesses that you almost want to keep a secret they are so fabulous!

When I first stumbled across Tea Party via Twitter I knew this lovely lady was onto something, she has great style!

So without further ado I proudly introduce Tea Party to A Chi Chi Affair. Sam the owner has kindly answered some questions for me.

Tell us about Tea Party.

Tea Party is a gorgeous private pink tea shop based in North London. It’s a perfect venue for private delectable tea parties that seat up to 20 guests. The tea shop is resplendent with big pink chandelier, pink & white striped walls and floral wallpaper, and guests sit around beautifully laid tables decorated with fresh flowers and are treated to a sumptuous afternoon tea served on vintage china.

Its Perfect for Baby Showers, Hen Parties, Birthday Parties, Bridal Showers and all manner of splendid occasions.

Why and How did you start Tea Party?

I love afternoon tea and more so pretty china and crockery. I got made redundant just 8 weeks after returning to work from Maternity Leave, just as the recession started. I’ve always wanted to work for myself and was waiting for some inspiration. I noticed a small shop for rent and came up with the idea literally overnight and set to work straight away making it all happen! It was something that could fit around my daughter as everything is bookable in advance. I’m trying to think of inspiration, but I always knew how I was going to style it – I’ve always had a thing for pink & white stripe!

What kind of events do you cater for?

Tea Party has been really popular for Hen Parties and Baby Showers are just taking over. We can offer a tea party for any special occasion and have even celebrated a 95th Birthday and a wake! We also provide children’s tea parties where they can behave like little ladies wearing some very grown-up hats. It works for any girly get together as it is such a unique experience! It’s a totally private venue and looks just fabulous! It sits up to 20 people.

Share your favourite event so far.

It’s difficult to say which event has been my favourite, but I love Baby Showers. They are such fantastically happy occasions and guests tend to bring beautifully wrapped gifts which I love to watch being opened. I think I get more excited than the mum to be!! However, most are brilliant and I always wish I was a guest and could join in. I even did my own birthday tea party and invited my own friends to experience what I do (and it was great!!).

Tea Parties start from £220 for a minimum of 10 people.

I am so happy to be supporting such a gorgeous business! I cant wait to visit!

This is pretty much the sweetest place ever. I'd sooo love to host a bridal or baby shower at a place like this! If only it weren't so far away ;)

We've got a similar one in Bristol which you can hire out. The cakes are amazing. Clare, Laura and I have sampled quite a few!
